This portrait mask of Disappear-Out-of-the-Sky, the blue gull demmalyun, was designed but not used as the title panel for the Jack Loki adventure called “Yellow Porch, Blue Gull, Black Crab Pie”. It should be mentioned, for those of you who are unaware, that black crab pie is made with black crabapples and contains no shellfish or crab meat. If there is a story about why this unpublished comic is dated the third of April, I do not know it. The “Muqaddimah of Wave-Dance-on-the-Ocean”, which was a kind of prolegomenon to “Yellow Porch, Blue Gull, Black Crab Pie”, began on July 2nd, 1995.

And here finally is the title panel that was published in newspapers on July 13th, 1995, except for Yost’s favorite newspaper, New Jersey’s Star Ledger, which published it on July 15th. I think it is appropriate to list this post under the misprint tag, even though technically it is not a misprint, just a late printing. I like the idea of keeping the mistakes made by the Star Ledger all in one place on this blog
