Bos Taurus Pastoral

When I posted this piece to the asemic writing group on fb, my caption was: “This one insisted on being made. No title yet, I don’t have a clue.” My friend Michael Orr, aka Cornpone, commented “Bossy”–referring, I think, to the tyranny of my muse, but that was not my first impression. My first thought was “cow”, then “pasture”, then “pastoral”. Was I thinking of a weedy field in the sunlight? Maybe the buttery yellow color reminded me of dandelions, or a box of margarine? Whatever the impetus behind the free association, this work is now titled “Bos Taurus Pastoral”.

I adapted it for a fabric in two versions: the original design, and the same design but with a smaller repeat.
